I'm using M6 southbound where it splits for the tolls as an example, but there's plenty more of them.

Two single lane exits to get on the same road. The thing is when HGVS use the second lane this opens out into lane 3 and there's usually cars on the inside of the lorry so they're stuck out there.

Very frustrating.

There's nothing saying they can't use the second exit but maybe it's time for change?

Something about cars not quick enough to out-drag a truck, I believe?!

I know the location the OP is referring to. Bad motorway design I reckon, at such a busy junction anyway.

Lorries use both the inside and outside feeder lanes, which then become lanes 2 and 3 as Lane 1 then appears on the left. Cue lorries in lane 3 and car drivers not letting them back in.

I agree with the op, I know this location well.

You often get the very danerous situation, (he says having been sqished by one of the big bds once .... a long time ago), of heavies where they shouldn't be, and much faster cars on the inside of them wondering whether to go or wait !

Heavies should be made to use the first exit slip, heavies should be stuck in lane one all the time ..... etc etc etc.

It is a crap junction though, you have to leave the M6 to stay on the M6 !

and ...... those given the "straight run" will probably have to stop at the toll booths anyway (I've never used it, I refuse to pay road tolls in this country, as we get taxed to fk anyway).

Poor driving from the cars not to let the trucks back in IMO.

But of course, you always want to slow down to accomodate lorries, the big bds spend most of their time in someones way !

Too many cars on the road driven by inexperienced/unskilled "public" who should be more aware of other road users and in particular trucks and other professional commercial freight.

All it takes is to look ahead and see that there's a truck who will most probably need to move lanes. So let them.
Don't get there and suddenly go all arsey when he/she starts to move over. It's your fault for driving like a dick.

So if they fk off into the nearside lane, we'll just see the offside as a blur ....... then everyone will be happy !

How about the lorry driver (you know, the so called professional), thinking ahead and wondering if he really wants to be in lane three causing a rolling roadblock ..... oh hang on, he probably doesn't give a fk.

There's not nothing saying they can't use lane 3 though, once the motorway has opened out.
Any professional, conscientious, considerate, forward-planning but most of all oppressed truck driver should know that, and plan ahead like what they tell us amateur car drivers to do.
A quick glance at the junction sign, which gives a diagrammatic representation of the lane layout wouldn't go amiss.

At a guess you have all used the road a couple of times so know the layout, the bloke driving the truck hasnt got a clue where he should be or what is ahead so is making an informed decision from the signage, satnav, what he can see everyone else doing and what he thinks will happen. If its a regular occurrence then its a crap design and needs better signage, not just at the point at where they get it wrong but way before to change their decision on where they should be before they get there.

For all the signs that they love to stick up all over the place its amasing how many times there isnt one telling you what you actually want to know, they just keep repeating the same information.

How's he supposed to think, drive the truck and make a cup of tea?

So all the car drivers must have been through that junction before, where as all the truckies are only ever seeing it for the first time?
How the blinding fk does that work?

The car drivers that are going through there for the first time can keep up with the flow of traffic though cant they dipst tongue out

10bhp per tonne doesnt exactly change speed quickly, we have to do stuff a mile before we want it to happen.

In no way does that negate the fact that the so called professional road users are just as likely, if not more so, to know the road layout for that junction long before they get there.
Dipst.
