On my way home tonight I was in a side road approaching a larger A road to turn left (as were most of the other drivers). I was about the 14th car back from the mouth of the road, from behind a van passes all of the queuing, slow moving traffic who were filtering out onto the main road (not a busy main road hence the traffic in the side road was moving); he takes to the wrong side of the road against traffic who have just turned off the main road we are waiting to join, forcing them up the kerb to make room for him.

I thought "he's a bit cheeky and impatient but obviously wants to turn right and not wait for those going left".

No, he then makes a space pushing in at the steepest angle possible to place his van between the car at the end and one car back, he then turns left onto the main road.

Is it just me or would that have really annoyed you?

I was in a hurry too but in contrast, I didn't drive like a thoughtless cnunt!

I have done similar(ish)

I've sat for 10 mins in a side road whilst the idiot at the front waits for an invitation to join the A road - which never comes.

So I've gone up (within the white line) alongside him on the right (although turning left) and simply merged into one of the many gaps that they have thought is too small.

I've never had to wait more than a minute to find such a gap, usually far less.

I haven't delayed / affected anyone but I'm sure the others in the queue hated me.

i do this all the time on one road in particular in margate. the filtered lights give people about 4 milliseconds to make your move so people invariably get through one at a time. the road backs up all the way to the previous roadabout, about 150-200 yards, i just go round who ever is in front on me and hook a left down the side road that cuts the lights out in the first place.

This was a T junction; he hadn't been waiting or held up at all, as soon as he approached the traffic moving slowly he just went around it all on the wrong side of the road forcing cars onto the pavement coming the other way and pushed his way in at a steep angle so he could force his van into the usual small gap between cars right at the front.

Perhaps I'll try it in my BMW and see what reaction I get wink

I thought his move was rather rude; what makes his journey more important than anyone else's?

I'm pretty sure pulling a stunt like that on a driving test would see you having to book it again when you learnt how to drive considerately and on the correct side of the road.

That doesn't get to me as such but one thing I would say boils the yellow stuff is when people stick behind you all the way down a dual carriageway and then as you pull off at the roundabout they overtake, why not before? God knows I don't!

I thought this thread was going to be discussing the merits of peeing in a bottle while driving vs pulling in at the services.

I agree, he showed no consideration for them either hence me mentioning it twice.

He showed no consideration for oncoming traffic, no consideration for the 14/15 cars who were negotiating the junction properly & no consideration for the car who had to almost stop for him on the main road whilst he pushed out of the junction into it's path.

It doesn't sound like a great bit of driving, and obviously not good forcing oncoming traffic to move on to the kerb, but you have no idea of his motivation. Maybe his wife was in labour in the passenger seat, or he's been called to hospital urgently, who knows? People do desperate things sometimes. If I see someone that desperate to make progress, I just leave them to it, and hope they're doing it for a worthwhile reason.

I don't think that was the case.

When I got onto the main road (which is 50mph) I could see him 11 vehicles ahead of me. The traffic was not doing 50mph and the road has ample overtaking opportunities and he was happily plodding along at the same speed as the vehicles ahead of him.

In an emergency when I had to get to a hospital quickly, I used main beam, hazards and horn (as most drivers would in a true emergency).
