Owners club valuations for insurance.
Discussion
I'm a member of a marquee specific owners club and through my experience with that particular car have done valuations for club members.
One of my counterpart valuers who deals with older models has come across a problem.
Insurers are refusing to accept valuations by club representatives if that person may have had any connection with the car concerned by either carrying out work on it or by selling it.
To me this says that the insurers are accusing us of colluding over the creation of false valuations and that the only people qualified to value cars are those that have no day to day dealings with them.
Has anyone else had this problem?

That's a fair point, but not what I and my counterparts do. Especially from my point of view as I do the later model stuff.
I've always done valuations on detailed descriptions and photographs. The insurers are now saying that the cars need to ne physically inspected and not worked on/had any connection to the business of the person doing the valuation.
My valuations have always been done on my experience and my employer is never mentioned but the insurers are now saying that if my employer has done any work on that car my valuation is void.
Apart from people like myself who are prepared to spend the time and money doing these valuations how else are club members meant to get them?

It's certainly an odd situation, Roo.
Marque experts such as yourself are few and far between in such a small community.......so the chances are you are going to know some of the cars you are asked to value, possibly even having sold or worked on them.
It would be interesting to know if its specific insurance companies that are now requesting this(perhaps we can get Mark to check A-Plan's stance on this one).
