Following on from the US driving test thread.

Places around the globe where you have taken tests.

Experiences, observations, humorous, ludicrous, high standards or just plain frightening?

Please do tell....

Took my test in New Zealand at 15 when the Traffic Cops would take you out for a 30 minute drive to assess your driving standard.

Drove to my high school where I was due to meet him, and parked around the corner. Cop says that he's pretty sure he just saw me drive up (illegally). I say no, must have been a mistake - not convincingly though. as the cop has a date that night, he had me drive him around the block and then issued me with a nice temp licence.

A friend who did hers around the same time, drove down a small one-way street. A truck driver decided that he wanted to use it as a shortcut, drove the wrong way down. She pulled onto the pavement as she was in a little Toyota, he had a bloody great truck. Cop failed her as she was in the right, and he was driving illegally.

It's the luck of the draw!

A mate took his "test" in Alderney, Channel Islands (Pop. 2400)in the '80s.

He went to the Police Station for his test. At the desk the tester looked up from his papers and said "Hi Bruce, I've seen you drive, here's your licence". Signed the papers and job jobbed.
