Did I Dodge a Shed?
Discussion
Went to buy a car yesterday (Mitsubishi Galant) for £400 so was not expecting too much. I was told the car had MOT, 2000 miles ago head skimmed and new valves and springs replaced and a new cam belt and water pump (it has done 200k+).
Spoke to the guy on the phone and he seemed genuine. On arrive did the usual checks and noticed the engine oil was very clean (looked brand new). The coolant level was below the low mark, but looked at the oil filler cap and no white gunk and smelt normal. No bubbles from the coolant tank when car was running and it ran smoothly. Then the guy could not find the latest MOT, but assured me it was MOT'd. As a result I decided to walk away. If he had the MOT I would have bought it.
So can anyone tell me if R347 BRJ is MOT'd so I know if my gut instinct was correct !!

I always wonder why people spend a small fortune on a car (relatively) to fix something, only to sell it a few hundred miles later. If they thought it was good enough at the time to spend the money on these repairs, what's happened in the few hundred miles since? No matter how I look at it, I always end up at the answer that it's still knackered. Either the repair wasn't good enough or didn't fix the issue, etc. Otherwise, why sell? You're never gonna make your money back, not at this level anyway.
^ This is true - however, a mate of mine has the sheddiest of sheddy shedded Range Rover Classics, which is in a REAL state and he doesn't use it any more. We have nagged him to get rid of it, thinking that if he's very lucky he might get a monkey for it (condition aside, it is taxed & MOTd and reliable and has actually been well looked after mechanically) but he keeps doing jobs on it "before I sell it". It's really not worth any effort and yet he keeps fiddling and spending money ahead of possible/potential sale. So, some people are strange about these things (although I'm sure plenty of others have something to hide).
