Just reading another thread some mild outrage at someone doing 99mph on a clear motorway and it got me wondering what most people consider to be too fast if you take a reasonably quiet motorway, but with at least some other traffic on it.

For your answer, dont select your own comfortable cruising speed, but the speed at which you think is actuall dangerous

Depends how capable your car is, but assuming a couple of cars per mile on a well-sighted, dry motorway I'd say you could do 120+ before it was really dangerous.

Autobahn?

Although with the amount of incompetent knobs on our roads I'd say about 130.

It's going to depend on too many factors to give a sensible answer, but I suspect the options don't go high enough.

Subjective, surely? Some drivers struggle with 30 so 70+ is going to be a disaster. Some people can actually drive so 100+ is perfectly safe right up until the idiot suddenly pulls out in front of you at 55.

It is too dependent on the situation to say that travelling above some particular speed is definitely dangerous. I've been ~180mph on a A-road equivalent and it was not, in and of itself, dangerous.

I stay under 100 so as I don't get a ban. Not sure if this is correct though? Is over 100 a ban?

None of the above are inherently dangerous.

Driving at any speed is inherently "dangerous", living is inherently dangerous. I assume you're asking when it becomes "unacceptably dangerous" in which case with no-one else in the car on a completely empty motorway I'd put no upper limit on it; if for no other reason than the fact that I have no objection to people killing themselves, as long as they don't put others at risk.

This.

If it was summers evening, late (gone midnight), smooth, quiet and dry motorway, then 1.2leptons in the Saab I have would be a comfortable "cruise".

By the same virtue, I wouldn't want to be above 0.6 leptons in the 1971 Austin... Or mothers Shogun Sport for that instance.

True. Assume dry and a modern powerful car.

Poll should have up to like 180 tbh.

Depends on car and road and driver.

Cant see a lambo drove by button being much danger at 180 on a empty road.

On a clear motorway none of the above is dangerous

I've done 150mph and it didn't feel dangerous but here in the uk the motorways are too congested and drivers too ignorant to deal with speeds any higher than what is already set.

Some of us might be very aware and capable of going faster and have the cars to go faster with good brakes but our biggest danger are the idiots around us.
