Yoofs egging drivers on?
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm a long time lurker and although I have been registered I've not made many posts.
Anyways,
Where I live there's a Zebra crossing (the one with the flashing orange lights and stripes on the road, sure that's a Zebra crossing?) and I've often witnessed some late teenage kids clinch a fist and then with their index finger kind of flick it fast from say a 6oClock to a 3oClock position as if to symbolise ( on a Tachometer I presume ) give it some revs please, and perhaps a wee boot up the road lol.
Have I missed something completely or is this common/even making sense?
Cheers
Ross

Posted from my phone, then it vanished after id previewed it, and realised a title was missing after id clicked go. Emailed the appropriate people and viola, here we are.
Mostly seems to be Evo's or Scoobs, or on the VERY odd case something more exotic. Still i was curious.
Thanks to all and sorry for the confusion.

Sounds familiar... when I was a kid we loved it if someone revved up a tasty car or booted it out of a junction - can't remember ever giving the "rev it up" or "wheel it" symbols to anyone we didn't know, though!
(Admittedly when directed at classmates it was more for the purposes of mockery than anything else. Because if you've all got wheezy old carb-fed and economy-biased inline fours, pointing out that the biscuit tin reverberation of an old Fiesta sounds so much less powerful than the gruff little engine inside a Polo is an important distinction to make in the complex and fluid negotiations of classroom hierarchy. Also I knew a guy who by the end of sixth form was pretty much introduced as, "this is [name redacted] - his car's so rubbish it can't even do a wheel spin". Big deal indeed.)
