Shook hands on the sale of my car tonight, however cannot find the V5 anywhere.

Does anyone know if I can go to my DVLA office and get a copy to sort this out?

Many thanks in advance.

I've sold cars without a V5 before, buyer applied for a new one, I gave a written assurance that I'd genuinely lost the original and they'd taken the car on that day

Just needs a V62 form, it'll take a while to come through, last time I did it it was a Swansea job, not sure if local offices can do anything. Let your buyer know sooner rather than later though (and send someone upstairs to keep looking in meantime!)

He seems like a good bloke and I have been honest with him about the V5 as I have with all aspects of the car.

Just dont want this to break the deal and have the costs of readvertising the car, fielding the calls etc etc

Dont want this to fall through. Ah selling/buying cars, what joy!

I foolishly left it until the morning of the sale of my car in the summer to find the V5, queue two very frantic and very sweaty hours and I found it!

The guy was traveling over to Cardiff from Essex so you can imagine how annoyed he would have been!

Out of interest how do you think you've lost it?!
Maybe it's just me and my over keenness with everything! I have an indexed folder to keep V5, MOT, invoices, receipts etc together in one place - which I believe shows a prospective buyer you're a prudent/enthusiastic owner!
If I was told it was lost I'd be concerned over how well everything else had been cared for unless there was a very genuine reason for it.

You don't need to v62 it, if none of your details have changed (eg address) you can ring up and get a duplicate over the phone, around £20 IIRC.
