Today Was The Day......

That I finally decided to stop buying so many car mags each month.
So it's bye bye subscriptions to Classic & Sportscar, Classic Car, Octane, EVO, Car, Top Gear, Auto Express & Autosport.
The only subscription is retain is for MotorSport.
The rest? Time to stop. After buying various car mags since the mid 1970's....... I have got complete sets of Top Gear, Classic & Sportscar, EVO, Octane, Grand Prix International (those old enough will recall that this remains the finest Grand Prix mag ever produced) & many more but enough is enough.
I have got literally thousands of the sodding things in the loft, spare bedroom, garage, garden shed & my dads loft.
Got bored reading them - used to read every copy from cover but just can't be arsed anymore.
SWMBO was exceptionally happy when I told her what I had done - less happy when she discovered just how much I have spent on Lego over the last 6 months. Not too mention the sum of £150.00 i spent today on an R2D2 kit.....
So i wonder how long it will be before cold turkey kicks in & i start buying them again!

I work for a magazine subscription company, a perk of the job is getting to read Razzle, Fiesta, Club International.
EFA
Not that i would know having NEVER looked in a "mans" mag......no never ever

I need to cut down, but its difficult.
FWIW this is where im at...
Octane - One of the essentials so ive got a subscription.
MotorSport - One of the essentials so ive got a subscription.
Car - Not subscribed, but essential nontheless.
Classic and Sportscar - Not subscribed, but essential nontheless.
Classic Car - Buy most issues, but miss the odd one.
EVO - Still buy it, but its's Q magazine and im more of a Mojo guy these
days.
Practical Performance Car - Was essential, now it's race weekend away reading- short articles.
Other stuff - Every so often i buy something like Classic Van, The Automobile , Military vehicle mags etc - just for the reading experience of having absolutely no idea of what's coming next.
Tip : When you're feeling a touch familiar, if not jaded with your usual petrolhead titles ,take it left field and kick back with a copy of Classic Plant and Machinery magazine,i've found it a great read - no idea what they're on about , but maybe thats the attraction ?

I have never bought a car magazine since I found Pistonheads.
I'm very similar. The last car magazine i bought was EVO last July as some reading fodder on honeymoon. Before that was a copy of Octane specifically for an F40 article. Before that? No idea what or when - probably years previously.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
