VX cdti injector removal
Discussion
Hey all
My kid brother has a 2005 1.9cdti vectra. The cabin has a smell of exhaust gases, so we have done a bit of investigation today.
Upon removal of the engine cover and with the engine running, I could see almost translucent smoke from one of the injectors. a quick spray of water shows the injector blowing out gases on the exhaust stroke.
So, we removed all the fuel rail and wiring connectors to gain access and managed to get the fuel delivery pipe off the back and remove the conical retaining nut.
The problem is, we still can't remove the injector to inspect the seals. Have we missed a securing screw, or are these things meant to be super tight? We are reluctant to apply too much pressure in case we break it, as the car still runs.
So, is this a diy task, or is it a garage job? Would an average back street place have the capability or tools for this? Or is it specialist type work?
Lastly, are injectors a serviceable item? New ones seem pricey for what is probably a dodgy seal by the looks of it
