New commuter car needed
Discussion
First of all, sorry for yet another ‘what car’ thread guys!
With the Puma finally starting to show signs of distress with covering 40k motorway miles over the past year or so i think it’s time to get a new work snotter for my daily commute.
Criteria i’ll be working within will be roughly as below
Budget 5-6k max
Comfortable enough to spend 4 hours a day in
The more toys the better
50 mpg plus on the motorway
Reliable
I’d probably look to sell the car after a year at which point it’ll have an extra 25-30k miles on it so would also look to consider depreciation – not surprisingly, the less the better
Having a brief look my initial thoughts were –
BMW 5 series diesel
Audi A4/A6 Tdi
Jaguar X-type 2.0d
Mondeo TDCi
Omega 2.2 d

Might not be "cool" enough for a PHer but Volvo S60/V70 D5 is worth a look.
Cheers, good suggestion, i'll have a look at those as well. Should have said, cool is not a criteria for this one, if it gets me there in comfort and doesn't try and bankrupt me in the process i'm happy. Another option is my mum has a Volvo C30 1.6D DRIVe that was on a PCP deal ending in March, 59 plate, 26k miles that the final payment is 7k. I could always pay this final payment and take this car although it was a bit more than i wanted to spend and possibly isn't the ideal car for 600 odd miles a week
