striping it up
Discussion
I rang a sign writing vinyl striping wrapping firm earlier, and asked how much to put a stripe over the car.
Up the bootlid, over the roof, and down the bonnet, ovwer the front bumper, about 450mm wide.
Without looking at it, they quoted £150.
I rarely tell them the car, and told them it was a mark 4 Golf.
About the same size as a 964.
I then rang a vinyl supplier, to find how much the vinyl is, and its around £2 a metre for 7 series 7year vinyl.
They've got the colour I want.
How easy is it to put a vinyl stripe on.
Any ideas guys?
For £20 woth of vinyl I could have more than one go.

I've vinyl wrapped headlights before and it isn't that hard but takes some patience to do it right. If you take your time and measure it all up and plan the position of the vinyl on the car somehow you could probably do a half decent job. I do it by making sure the surface is completely clean with a bit of panel wipe and when applying the vinyl I use a heat gun to warm it up so that it stretches over the surface it's supposed to be covering. Oh, and a small craft knife to trim away the excess.
If it's fairly cheap to DIY, why not, what's the worst that could happen?
