Hi there PH!

A simple one, what is the best sounding car for sub £2k? Preferably manual, but not a necessity.

MPG, not an issue although urban avg of around 20 would be good.

No BMWs as I cannot get insured on them...

Is there anything better than this?

Over to you!

Thanks driving

Lots of choice. Audi A8 with some silencing removed for a big V8 rumble? Impreza Turbo 2000 or GX with a good exhaust? Honda EK4 Civic with a straight through pipe? MR2 Turbo for a 'right behind your head' experience? Volvo 850 T5 with a straight through pipe for some 5 cylinder warble? Peugeot 306 GTI'6 with a Pugsport on for some pops and bangs?

MG ZS 180 - glorious V6 noise! Especially with an aftermarket system and induction up front! biggrin

As far as V8s go, that sounds pretty bad IMO. No decent burble at idle and horrible fart-can at full chat.

ETA: However, a V8 will surely be the right answer. Or at a push, a fruity V6.

Alfa 156 2.5 V6 for me or if you can find one a 75 3.0 V6, both sound great stock.

Alfa V6, though I prefer the sound of my Corrado VR6 to my M3 and these are easily available under £2k now

Five-cylinders are nice, anything T5 or V5.

Seems a close call between the Alfa, 5cyl or a Lexus.

Not too keen on a big old barge, is the V6 in the Audi Coupe a nice engine?

Quick Volvos are not insurable to me sadly so 5 cylinder route is probably, again, Audi.

You'll have too forgive me as I am not that genned up on my Audis, but what can I find the 5 cyl in? Coupes and 80s/90s?

ETA: Oo, the VR6, didn't think about those. Off I go to the insurance..
