Sorry if this is a repost - but I can't see it anywhere. It's been on the DT website since this morning, so I'm surprised it hasn't been commented on yet.
Fear of driving – and how to overcome it
I just find this frightening. If you're scared of driving, get out of the car, lock the doors and walk away. I realise it must be horrendous to be in that position, and it will put a dampener on your life. But seriously, if you're terrified, you simply shouldn't be in charge of 2 tons of metal with which you could hurt everyone else.
I admit that these people are unlikely to be driving quickly or dangerously - but they will almost always have "tunnel vision", failing to observe what is going on around them; and their timidity and slow progress on the roads will frustrate other road users such that they will be provoked into more dangerous manouevres, such as overtaking.
It's a difficult one to find a solution to, but these people shouldn't have driving licences.
