So we have had our 06 Ford S Max now for 2 months (bought from a certain Ford Dealer) and I took it back in this week to get some annoying niggles sorted, I assumed, under the 3 month warranty.

List as follows:

- Front parking sensors going mad as you drive down the road
- Auto wipers only have one speed: very very fast, regardless of rain level or setting
- Message on dash saying 'Alarm Service Required'
- CD player skipping over the slightest bump
- Lights left on chime not working

So I get a call saying that the FPS need replacing which will be £150, the Alarm is faulty and will be £275 to fix, the windscreen wipers are not correct for the sensors - £60 to replace.

What about the CD player - "That's normal", apparently.

I say I assume this will be covered under warranty - "not sure, will have to speak to management".

It better be or I am about to have a raging hissy fit!

None of it covered.

No warranty documentation given to me when I purchased the car, despite asking.

Refused to have the work done but been charged a diagnostic fee anyway.

Pissed off.

That's not normal for a cd, and all those points would make me want to return the car. What's a warranty for if they are not going to help you? I'd be upset too.

Kill them.

In all seriousness, surely they need to honour a 3 month warranty regardless of paperwork? Their incompetence is not your problem.

Do you know what warranty you have?

I'd be pissed off, but I long suspected these 3 month warranties on used cars are barely worth the paper they're written on.

Me too, but I thought that plus not giving me the warranty documentation (no idea what warranty it is) might mean they would show a bit of goodwill.

Apparently not.

The sales service was appalling too - they will never get my custom again. Frankly I just want them repair the wipers (which I agreed to pay for) so I can get the car out of there.

A strong letter will be following.

Yes, this is what I was thinking. (But the fact that it's a Ford Main Dealer is irrelevant - any dealer would be more appropriate).

This. Ford main dealer you say? Surely the SOGA applies here so soon after purchase? (I do hate people who bandy this about mind hehe )

I'd be going down there and making a fuss. On Saturday when lots of people are in.

But if the warranty does not cover these repairs where do I stand?

The fact they did not give me any documentation would help my cause but some would say I should have demanded to see the booklet.

They don't half bend you over!

Ignore the warranty issue - I think the SOGA is what you should be looking at. So soon after purchase it can be assumed these faults were present at sale. I think.

IANAL!

I wouldn't be taking that st from them without a massive fuss anyway.

Speak to your local Trading Standards and CAB. If a warranty was specified at sale time surely you should have been given paperwork to tell you what it covers?

If it was me I'd be tslking about rejecting the car.
There are just too many thing wrong.

But, I dob't know if I'd have any success.

Step 1.
Ask to speak to manager.
Ask what he can do.
If ir doesn't go well ask if he can give you his answers in writing.

Then SOGA him.
Perhaps add a nite to any SOGA compkaint that you will happily stpp all complaints if they just take the car backcand refund.

Agreed.

Should I put a complaint in writing as I guess storming in and threatening to torch the joint might not get the response I want?

if it's a ford 6006 6 CD changer, they all do that sir, as well as 'losing' CDs inside

get the right size torx screwdriver, you can open them up quite easily, retrieve lost CDs and clean the lens to stop it skipping

as for the rest...
