Cheap ratty track and road fun - Mk2 golf Gti, 205 Gti, MX5?

Just after your thoughts.
Which do you think will be the best in terms of keeping the costs down.

My main beast is 450-500hp of insanity and therefore is it often layed up - having engines pulled ect.

I want something cheap - budget is 1k. Can be dented
To take out for low speed track fun and general hoons down country lanes in, when the other car is out of commision, which is alot of the time.

Given these cars ages what do think will be the most hassle free.

205Gti - I have owned 1
106Gti - Never owned
Mk 2 golf Gti - I have owned 2
Mx5 MK1 - I have owned 3

A ratty MX5 is my first choice.
Any other suggestions before I take the plunge on an MX5
