Spent hours this afternoon looking online at loads of different cars but cannot for the life of me make a decision about what type and model to buy I end up going round and round.

Start with B5 RS4's but everyone I could see looked pretty tired or in my eyes badly modified or mega miles 160k plus
Next up the RS6 C5 ticks pretty much every box apart from fuel economy but the range in prices and sellers expectations are worlds apart
Next I looked at the two Lotus Carltons - discounted them as I couldn't use a car as a daily plus values one was £17k the other £50k couldn't see the value difference personally but it must exist
Next 996 Turbo so many but from what I could see its upwards of £27:28k asking price to get a nice looking one.
Next E55k estate a great car but the dash isn't great quite a let down v the 5 series equivalent
Next 535d m sports all huge miles frankly or high asking price for what it is vs say the petrol equivalent also couldn't find one in the right colour and touring.
Next I think what about a newer S4 the 4.2v8
I glance at Cerberas but know right now I cannot have one in time but practically now its difficult.
Then I oddly think 335d touring but then think god its old man and frankly not hugely different to what I hae now plus I want to hear a glorious engine again.
Nissan GT-R too much cash I'd say
Then I looked stupidly at a RAnge Rover v8 supercharged

Then plenty of others but I'm really struggling to find what I'm looking for.
I have a family hence me looking potentially at estates but frankly the wife could have an estate or keep the hatchback that works currently.

Or even been looking at 944 turbos and 968's

There is just too much choice all are affordable to buy and run some evidently are more so than others and can tick the fun box in a bigger way too.

So really struggling and yes I do fancy a change been having itchy feet on and off for a while now

I'm after something fast - faster than my current 330d and not by a little bit I'd want a good step up also want reliability and also don't want depreciation to kill me.
Note the 944 turbo /969/S2000 would be second cars with me keeping the 330d as a commuter.

You'd be into a nice, reliable Corvette C6 at those kind of prices.

Any other ideas to help the narrowing down process?

Looks to be around £20k, faster than a 330d, and a saloon/estate if it's to replace the 330d.

Vauxhall VXR8?

Although vastly better than that, I just found a leggy Maserati Quattroporte. I'm sure that will be fine.
