Driving Windsor to South Yorkshire
Discussion
I've been in Windsor for a few days and should be returning to Doncaster on Monday.
However, with the weather forecast being snow again, would I be better off leaving today.
I was out in the snow on Friday local to Windsor and it was quite slippy and not particularly pleasant to drive in.
I'm thinking tomorrow will be fine but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Assuming you don't have winter tyres, or good all-season tyres, then if the forecast is to be believed you'd be better off leaving today, and sooner rather than later. The forecast on the BBC suggests a good dollop by mid-afternoon, perhaps earlier.Slashmb said:

With winter tyres on one car and all-seasons on the other I thought it was great fun. With tomoro being monday, i would myself rather drive up today rather than mix it up with the hundred thousand people who claim they need there cars on the road to take the kids somewhere................
Mrs400 has got a none essential journey to make tomoro, but road here Derbyshire the main roads are looking ok, so were goin take a little ride up shortly

Yep, I'd do it today while the roads are clear of cars. With or without winter tyres it'll be fine, take a spade just in case and some warm gear, but it's pretty rare that motorways have any problem apart from cars in the way, there aren't massive hills on the M1.
I did the hilly bit, Leeds to Notts in winter 1979 or 80 in a Mk 1 Escort with normal tyres (Michelin ZX!) (we didn't have all this bull about you will die in a rear wheel drive car with sumer tyres back then) and did a steady 50 in 4" of snow and am here to tell the tale.

Thanks for all the replies folks.
I decided to come home today and it was the right decision. The motorways were really quiet traffic wise and the only bit of settling snow was for about 8 miles just south of Nottingham.
Maybe I can have a bit of fun in the snow tomorrow now I'm back home.
