Of course they'll let you hire a car/van. It's their business, regardless of the weather.

Did this twice and all of the smallish items were crammed into a STI - not sure that's on offer . I'd look at the insurance of the company you use first but most will be ok. I'd be more worried about your items in the even of a crash.
