The OH and I are having a bit of a struggle sorting out four new tyres for our Mazda 3. We were originally intending to replace them with Bridgestones (which is what it has on now) however they were coming in at £150 each which we simply can't stretch to at the minute for various reasons.

Our tyre place, after several attempts at flogging the OH some Lingtong ditchfinders, suggested some Avons and also some Cooper tyres which they say are basically the same as the Avons but a bit cheaper as they are all part of the same company.

The internet and the trusty PH wiki seem to be a bit short on reviews for the Coopers so I was wondering if anyone on here has ever had any experience with them? I'm a bit reluctant to put anything on that I haven't heard of before as the last firm I did that with was Wanli on my first car - big mistake...

If anyone could help that would be great smile

I belive that Cooper and Avon are one and the same - they use the name cooper abroad as I recall.

The EU finally did something useful and put some numbers to tyres - all new tyres have a grading system. Wet grip is the important one really.

Have a look for Uniroyal Rainexpert or Rainsport2 - good tyres and very good value.

Hankook also come in pretty cheap and usually get a thumbs up.

Alternative: Falken 452's, excellent wear etc and £71 a corner on camskill. Provided they do them in your wanted size, they're bloody grippy too thumbup
