Check this out http://www.omanforum.com/forums/showthread.php?114...

Thats from June 2005! It appears lots of German manufacturers use the track and surrounding areas for high termperature testing of news cars.

I'm amazed I haven't heard of this before. Googling for it finds almost nothing.

Yup, went past there driving down Muscat to Salalah once - no chance of getting near. To be honest it really is in the middle of nowhere and you'd be wanting to have fun in a 4WD off road out there, not driving around in circles.

Looking at it in google earth using the ruler tool, the circuit is 12 miles long, 3 miles for each straight and each bend.

There's about a gazillion square miles of desert and mountains to do that in the Middle East. At least a secret test track is an interesting change!

Reminds me a bit of the fictional 18 mile circuit 'Special Stage Route X' in GT5.

Never dreamed there would be something similar in real life! Would love to live near that, if it was open to the public.

One of these tribes probably:

Asmi
Busaidi
Durei
Haifi
Harmali
Harsoosi
Hashimi
Hattali
Junaibi
Khusaibi
Mahrouki
Raqmi
Sheibani

But unless you've got some unknown Wasta then you have zero chance.
