So, the stupid IR central locking on my car has packed up. Its been on the blink for a while. its not the batteries as I've changed them and its not a fuse either as I've checked that too. I've decided to go down the route of an aftermarket universal central locking kit, however I'm a bit stuck. I am a competent mechanic and automotive electrician and i have fitted CL kits before so no "take it to a professional" comments please.

I need to know which wires to tap into for lock and unlock and whether its a positive or negative locking system. A few honda forums have said to tap into the two wires going into the central locking control module which sounds sensible enough. people have posted pictures of the module but none that really show where it is. The haynes manual is useless and says 'consult a professional' (thanks haynes) but it does say the control module is located under the dash facia to the left of the passenger compartment fuse box. The problem is it gives no pictures and I have looked pretty hard but cant find it (and given my car has 2 seats and a steering wheel and NOTHING else it should be pretty easy to find, shirley?) so does anyone know the exact location of the mysterious box of witch craft or know of a sensible place where I can tap into wires which will do the trick.

Thanks

Thom

I had an MB6 with that useless IR central locking, I just used the key all the time. Was too annoying trying to get the aim just right on the little dome.

If I was you, rather than mucking about with the module, does the driver's lock unlock all the other doors? From memory it does.

Send a signal to the drivers door solenoid and it will then unlock the others.

Might not be the result you want, but it's probably what I would do.

i should know this after a fairly major conversion for track use on an mb6. Are the electronics not on the panel as the sensor on the roof?
