I’ve got an ML430 which, Just before Christmas I took in for a new key to be programmed to my Local MB dealership.
The bill for this was about as pleasant as having said ML reverse, ungreased up my back passage.

They informed my wife that it required a safety recall on a power steering hose end, which should have been done a few years back.
Now, this power steering hose end failed 3 years ago in Germany, and I took it to the Local MB dealership there, on a Saturday, and they cut the end off and Jubilee clipped it on. And, just for fun, replaced the fking coolant tank without asking, taking 3 hours and 500 hundred fking Euros whilst we were meant to be skiing on my daughter’s fking 8th birthday. tts.

The London dealer is now saying that as the hose has been tampered with, they will not do the recall. The mrs asked for a quote to replace the hose anyway as it’s probably in dire need of it. After ten days, they have not responded, and have just kept the car with no communication. dheads.
Meanwhile I have contacted Mercedes Benz customer service, who have said it may take ten bloody working days to respond to my query.

Am I being unreasonable in expecting them to fix something that was obviously designed by a dyslexic Baboon with an Etch-A-Sketch and never wanting to give any of these thieving, idiotic wkers my hard earned ever again?

Thats as bad as the local ( now defunct) landrover dealership. my disco went in for a recall on fuel pipes as the original design rubbed on the loom and wore through. my car went in for the recall, they replaced the pipes with another original design set banghead so 2 years later diesel everywhere.

dealer wouldnt do anything about it even though they had replaced iw with the wrong parts...

It has not been tampered with, its been repaired by MB albeit in Germany. Better still if you have the invoice from the German Dealer.

Know that won't help but how do MB customer service say it'll take 10 days to respond? is it a standard email to you or is it waht hey have said verbally.

Poor service though.

Cut you losses, buy a decent car.

been driving vans nearly 20 years and driven most especially at the crappier end of the market during my leccy board days, my vitos in 2nd place only to the infamous LDV fking pilot wking PoS sherpa stbox for things going wrong and it generally being an annoying timewasting money consuming pile of stwk. but it's close- and the vito probably wins when you consider the ldv probably cost half a vito. And was sold as something supposed to be cheap and stty.

not one close to the A40 is it? they told me my battery failed after 2 years because ...

"you're not driving it properly sir. We can tell from the odometer reading only 12,000 miles"

Anybody know why this email comes from Clog-land?

We are extremely sorry that your experience of Mercedes-Benz has not met your expectations. In view of your concerns we have opened a case file in order to investigate further. This process can take up to ten working days and we would ask for your patience in this time as we review the details of the matter.

I hear what you are saying with regard to buying something decent....but 7 seats and a V* leaves very little choice if I don't want a Disco surely??

After looking through Linked in I seem to have many connections with Mercedes uk, and have found the name of this chap.

Mark M********
Customer Service Manager at Mercedes-Benz Retail Group Ltd

I have made a guess at his email and sent him a polite email....

I'll leave it a while before I spam them all through Linked in shall I ???

I'm sorry, but I must be missing something.... what is wrong with picking up a phone and calling customer services??

speak to someone, you never know, they might help you there and then without you bhing about the time it takes them to repsond to your email, that you're considering spamming everyone with.

As has been mentioned already - why not phone them??

If you have the time to sit and post stuff here then it would seem you have time to call.

email is for things that are not urgent.

Have I read this right...You've left your car with MB for over 10 days and instead of being on the phone to them constantly asking why you still haven't got your car back, you're fannying around on here and Linked in?

Why would I waste my time phoning them? Much more amusing to annoy them a bit and see how long it takes them to sort themselves out, shambles that they are.

When I worked in a fking dealership, if you had a customers car sitting around for ten fking days you'd be stting yourself.

Now I get told it's not their fault the car was built with a dangerous valve which then failed, and it seems they have so much space and lack of regard for customers that they can block their compound up and not care.

Obviously if I needed it, I'd be especially irritated.

Which is the exact reason after owning, BMW's, Audis and Mercs I drive a Lexus.

Cant even bring myself to own another BMW in this lifetime.

My wife took her B class to get a minor squeek looked at, whilst standing next to the service manager, one of their parking monkeys drove straight into it, in an M class!! After having it repaired at massive inconvenience, they made out as if they had done her a favour by having the rear bumper re-sprayed (Car was perfect before, no paint, hence the reason we bought that one).

They also quoted her to replace the whole steering rack for said squeek for North of £700, had it fixed elsewhere with a grease gun.

Because you want your car back?
Because it would be quicker than emailing them?

I can appreciate you're upset at not having your car back, but stalking them on linked in is really just sad.

So who am I going to Phone smartarses?

The service receptionist/service manager who said "we are not going to pay for it"

Or the customer services in Holland? Who are underpaid, underappreciated and probably don't care...

The fact is, I don't think I should pay for a manufacturing/design fault that has been recalled, and there is nobody in the company that is on my side.

Seriously, if anyone has a suggestion as to WHO I should call that might be of any use then great, but neither of the above options make sense to me.

I can see literally no flaw in this cunning plan to get them on side and sorting out your problem as quickly and painlessly as possible. thumbup

Start with whoever has your car. If you want to complain, or try to get some sympathy and a contribution to paying for it, you've made a right mess of it so far.
Not sure why you've started phoning different countries, but I know I would not be very helpful if I knew you went right over my head at the first oppurtunity.
