Help please petrol heads!

I start a new lease in April and I can't decide between the above. As it's a lease option, I'm not considering residual value as it's irrelevant, it's all about how it feels to drive and how it looks!

Both of these options are around the same price so it's either:

Audi Q5 Quattro 2.0 TDI S Line Plus Tip Auto with 20" wheels; or
Evoque Pure SD4 Tech pack Auto with 20" wheels

Audi has all the toys I would want in my package included as standard but the Evoque Pure is not nearly so comprehensive. I have dogs so will need a dog guard in either (wondering if the small amount of back window in the evoque will cause a problem once I have two spaniels taking up room!).

I can't help thinking that the Evoque is very s*xy and much more of a head-turner (for me) than the Q5 but the Q5 is a lovely drive and lots of toys and extras as standard so better value for money!

I'll be looking at black (or pearl Daytona grey or the slightly darker silver) with magnolia leather for the Q5 and for the evoque - Black, Indus Silver or Orkney Grey with the light grey leather.

Help please!

Er. Which do you like? What answer are you expecting?

For me, Evoque over Q5, but either one still makes me think "oh look there's a badge snob"

ETA when you're driving it, you'll still be looking out of a piece of glass, holding a steering wheel, sitting behind heavily tinted windows, so if concern is only about your image, then maybe something convertible?

Large blingy Q5 with stupidly large wheels, or medium-sized Evoque with stupidly large wheels... scratchchin

An Evoque, with 18", would be my choice out of those two.

I'd take the Evoque without hesitation (they're exceptional), but wouldn't bother with the optional 20" wheels. Spend the money on heated seats or xenons or something.

Thanks all.

I'm test driving and seeing both cars this morning and I'll need to make a decision.

It might be just me but I always think the bigger the wheels the better (looks wise) as long as it doesn't cost too much more (it won't as 20" come as standard on the Q5 and its not an expensive extra on the Evoque).

So you're all voting the Evoque. What colour combo?

Thanks all for your input

The Q5.

An Evoque on 20" wheels will look like a rollerskate.

Evoque.

Sold ours before Christmas as our circumstances changed (and we got a good offer) but the car is outstanding, superb drive, lovely suspension. great interior.

Feels and looks special.

I was buying a car for my OH a few days ago. Evoque seemed too mannish for her. We chose between GLK 350, Q5 3,0T and Lexus Rx350, but both preferred the Merc. Audi was second to finish, but I'd pick the Evoque any day of the week if I were you.

Much as I am not a fan of either, I would definitely take the Evoque if its solely down to those two. It is more talented than the Audi

We chose an Evoque after going through the same decision making process.

It really is a cracking car, nice place to sit and drives beautifully. Not huge so if you need space it might not be the best choice but other than that I'd go for it. Somehow the Q5 looks a bit 'normal' next to one!

Drove a Q5 (3.0tdi) a couple of years ago, liked it lots. Bought a Freelander a year ago, also considered an Evoque. Fantastic interior, but very claustraphobic in the back, and boot is very small. Not sure your dogs will be very happy! On looks and LR off road ability, the Evoque, everything else, the Q5 (or a Freelander which has just been facelifted (again)).

Drive the car on the smallest wheels available before going for the massive ones. Also check out the difference in price for tyres between the two sizes. It'll be an eye opener.

Either:

Firenze Red with Ebony, Mauritius Blue with Ebony or Baltic Blue with Cirrus.

Style 4 19" wheels look great too, cheaper than the 20's as well.

Is this thread serious?

If residuals are not important then why ask a group of strangers what colour to get. FFS just get the colour that you like, not the colour that other people like.

PS Not sure that the spaniels will be happy in the boot of either. They would probably be better of on the back seats or in the boot of a Freelander, but I doubt that would be blingy enough.

Really surprised by that, I'd look at the Evoque as a totally effete car.

We were having a conversation in the pub earlier today about 'womens school-run cars' (long story, mrs HH has pneumonia and I've been working from home and doing the school run, and I'd ran out of patience and complained about the utter inneptitude of most school-run drivers).

Evoque was the clear leader, followed by the Mini countryman, then 1 series cabrio. Maybe it's where I live, but there are loads of Evoques round here, and they're all driven by women.

I looked at one for Mrs HH last year as I actually like the way they look, and they drive OK, but it was quickly dismissed as it's very, very cramped inside and could never be a 'family car'.

ETA - just been reminded that one guy said it would have the same image as the RR Sport in a year or two, once the novelty has worn off. I remember thinking the RR Sport was a good looking car when launched, but I now think they're cringeworthy - will the same happen here? Not sure....

Was thinking the same thing. I like the styling of the Evoque but always considered it to be a car for female mini drivers to upgrade to. I know that's probably a terribly unfair stereotype, but there you go.

I'd say from a practicality point of view that they are both likely to be fairly poor. The evoque is well known for being rather tight on the inside and if the Q5 is anything like the reverse tardis Q7 I can't imagine it's much better.

I do like the GLK but it is less of a "fashion statement" than the OP's choices.
