Subaru Legacy R spec B - Driving impressions?
Discussion
Thinking of getting a Subaru Legacy R spec B (LE6) 2005, what are they like to drive?
I am especially interested to know what they are like from a PH point of view.
The general stats:
Engine layout: Front Engined
Aspiration: Normally Aspirated
Engine size (Litres): 3.0
Engine configuration: 6 cylinder
Cylinder layout: Horizontally
Cylinders: 6
Engine power (BHP): 241
Torque (lbs/ft): 219 (not much torque)
Top speed (MPH): 150
Acceleration: 0 to 62 in 6.9 seconds (not very impressive)
Fuel consumption (MPG): 24.1 (seems a low average for figures)
Driven wheels: All Wheel Drive - Permanent
Over to you

Ive got one as a daily hack albeit with an lpg conversion which overcomes the standard cars poor mpg.
The flat 6 engine is amazing if not completely mute from the factory. With a decent exhaust fitted you can get some serious 911 sounds going on.
Performance stats are deceiving...the reason for the poor 0-62 is that 62 needs a change into third. 0-60 is around 6 so its no slouch.
Handling is great for something so big but he steering is devoid of any feel imo.
Look out for knocking suspension, (bilsteins are costly to replace but can be rebuilt), cv joints, juddery clutches.
Seem pretty robust though....mines on 127k miles

Driving impressions:Handling is great with an amazing high speed stability!
Suspension is quite firm, thankfully no"sport"mode or anything like that, just real
Bilsteins. The engine is just perfect, insane throttle response and feels quick imo.
Regarding the steering,i think there is plenty of feel in it.Seats are quite good and the MOMO steering wheel feels wonderful in your hands.
Brakes are great, and can take some beating before fading starts.
What's not to like
I say go for it! It's a real
s car.
