Whatever next?! I've just sat in the 208 Intuitive while it did all the parking for me. You merely control the throttle and it pops itself in there.

Do we think that cars are becoming over complicated now or is this the dawn of a bright future?

For me at least I think that although impressive it is possibly a little too much and soon enough all the joys of driving will be taken from us.

We need a better driving test so people can drive for themselves, rather than ever more aids to assist the incompetent or poorly trained.

Additionally, do these "self park" systems not require that the parking space is several metres longer than the car? I've certainly read criticism of earlier systems that a good driver can park in a far smaller space than these systems demand.

I wouldn't say several metres longer but it does have to be a little longer than the car. I think the system itself works pretty well, it stays quite close to the car in front. My main moan would be that you can park a lot quicker yourself. I could imagine that if you had a queue of cars behind you that some drivers behind may become annoyed.

It was so weird having the wheel turning itself though. Incredibly unnatural.

I can only see it failing when the car is 6 six years old, in Grantham high street. Leaving Mavis - who has come to totally rely on it, stranded and flapping.

Sorry to be negative and all.... biggrin

If it kerbs the alloys will Peugeot refurb them? Or does it stay a mile away from the kerb?

Cars that adjust the choke AUTOMATICALLY - Does this just take control away from the driver, are cars too complicated now?

I see your point, but this self parking gizmo is going too far.

It's pandering to the ever-increasing lazy people on our roads IMO.

Just something else to go wrong !

Anyone who cant park a 208 shouldnt be driving, pretty flat ended hatch and its a small car.

Personally, I'd rather have a car that parks itself than one that changes gear itself... I think it's quite a good idea, the car should be able to get into a far smaller space than a human could because it knows exactly how much space it has.

Do I feel the lack of it in my car? No of course not.
