A friend of mine was out in Liverpool for a meal on Friday night, he had a few beers 5 or 6 bottles, his Mrs was driving as she obviously wasn't drinking. Come going home time the place was covered with snow she panicked and couldn't / wouldn't drive the car.

He reckons the only other alternative was to drive the 10 miles or so home over the limit.

Given the circumstances of public transport grinding to a halt and no chance of a hotel or taxi what would you have done?

Made her drive and coached her. 6 pints and driving in the snow is recipe for disaster.

Stay in the car keep warm until the drink has gone from the system. Good option compared to losing licence and or killing some poor bd walking on the road because the snow is clogging the path!

This.

If a drunk bloke could manage it can't have been too hard. What would she have done if she was on her own?

5/6 bottles, you would be around the limit or under in 4 hours tops. IMO

Any of these or call friends to help, find a hotel which isnt hard in liverpool, guide her as she drives, go and wait somewhere until out of system or even if things are that bad and there are no taxis, hotels and you cant wait in the car then even call the police.

Shouldnt drink drive.

This. Refuse to drive and wait until she calms down / gives in. That said, I have made damn sure that mine knows how to drive in snow.

I walked right across town on Friday night, it wasn't too bad to drive. I'd have told her to stop being daft and drive

If it was 5 half pint bottles consumed with food over a couple of hours the reality is he was probably under the drink drive limit when the time came to drive, the sixth bottle , if it was six may have made him borderline and he'd need to leave it another hour or so , stay for coffee to be on the safe side

I don't condone drink driving but there is a limit set ,at the moment, which the government deems safe , IMO that buffer is perfectly reasonable , nothing wrong with having 2 pints over 2 - 3 hours and driving home

Yea that's exactly what it was, apart from the fact my wife is not pregnant, we weren't in Liverpool for a meal and I was at home with my little boy.

What a jerk hehe
