A remarkable video, oh to be a 19 year old, it is 1969, and you have your own Ferrari GTO, and just messing about.

The site is also pretty good if you like all things Italian and automotive.

Oh to be a 19 year old in 1969 with my very own GTO!

Quite incredible. To think this used to happen, with kids. Really enjoyed that video.

Wow - nice to see GTO's actually being used and by people enjoying them so much!

I am so very jealous...

Car prices even on relatively exotic stuff were nowhere near today's levels. My father had owned various sports cars for the equivalent of shed money, which are now worth 100s of times that, by the time he was my age... When you could pick up a scruffy XK150 or Aurelia GT in the 60s for less than £100, it would be rude not to!

I doubt GTOs quite made it into shed territory, but I expect they were a few orders of magnitude more obtainable smile

And no NSL before '65 either...

Grrr

biggrin

Great footage. Good soundtrack and facinating voice over. Love the painting of the car, loved to hear is upset people. Loved the dig at Ralph Lauren, the ex owner certainly gives the impression that RL has buggered it.

He's just typical of the Pebble Beach crowd. Yanks in general tend to have no idea of patina or period mods and overrestore stuff to 'better than new' super-shiny condition. Much of Mr Lifshiitz's collection is far too shiny, imho. But then he even got rid of any history in his name too!

What a great time! Seeing these (or in fact any) cars being properly instead of having them parked on grass while a beardo with a clipboard decides whether or not to give you a rosette. Life is far too short for that.

Hand painting the California though.. bloody hell, tough to defend that biggrin

That was just utterly mesmerising. Southern California, 20 years old, Ferraris, Willow Springs? What's not to like? Astonishing.

Wonder what the chap runs around in now. Simply amazing insight into the lives of a few very lucky GTO owners back in those days.

He's so relaxed! Loved the oh this is us painting my friends California to make it look like a Jeep......

Hadn't seen that video, or anything similar, before today. Awesome stuff. Three 250 GTO's being hustled around a race track without a care in the world is outstanding.

Loved the open road shots as well. Good to see that the cars were used as God, Enzo!, intended. Happy days I would think.

More of the same please as thoroughly enjoyed that film.

that truly is fantastic , painting the 250gt cali in matte green hehe

but c'mon, even when these old race cars were cheap they weren't that "cheap" were they?

i had some help off an old boy ordering a sandwich in stavelot one time when i was on track at spa, got to talking & he reckoned he sold his GT40 for just over 4 grand back in the day, turned out to be willie green.

not sure what 4 grand bought you back then but i think it'd be a fairly nice house or something.

where does a 19 year old get that sort of money then?!
