Most pointless spoiler ever?
Discussion
I totally get the Suzuki Wagon R. It's a kind of "anti car" for people who have zero interest in anything motoring and simply want something very cheap and utterly practical. A wheeled fridge if you like, an automotive shed.
So who on earth thought "you know what would make the Wagon R more appealing? A roof spoiler!"
The one I saw looked like an original factory fit too, which just makes it even more bizarre.
Surely this is the most inappropriate use of a spoiler ever? No Wagon R buyer is remotely interested in cosmetics, they wouldn't be buying a Wagon R if they were.

But the looking nice is the point. They don't actually do anything most of the time.
But why try and sport up a Wagon R?
Different folks, different strokes....Some people will actually find a Wagon R with a spoiler appealing! It's the same way Baz the local dealer thinks he looks wicked in his E30 318i M3 CSL limited edition innit bruv! But why try and sport up a Wagon R?

ETA the mirrors. Picture was taken during the World Cup. Was showing my support, even though I'm english!

Don't these kind of spoilers make the air break cleaner off the back of the car and therefore reduce drag and improve economy. So far from being pointless they are likely to be there for a well thought out reason.
Ian.
But wouldn't you need to be doing silly speeds for it to be truly effective? I think most manufacturers do it for the cosmetic appeal rather than any economical reason.Ian.
I certainly didn't notice any change in MPG when running the Accord without the spoiler for a week when re-sealing it.

If the aero on cars like the Hyuara only work above 80mph, I doubt a bit of plastic stick on the boot is going to make any significant difference. Plus, if it worked that well, why aren't all cars fitted with them? Surely anything to reduce fuel consumption is a good thing (unless you have shares in the oil companies or you're a Tory MP).Ian.
