Are there many occasions or places when you would not consider driving your car to? I ask this because I wonder how many times we subconsciously factor this in as to what countries or what towns we visit or whether to stop for lunch or coffee or what hotel we stay in or even do we drive into town to go to the cinema or shopping.

Needless to say, I'm talking about our special cars here not sheds.

I suspect the all pervasive fear of them being damaged intentionally or otherwise limits our use of them.

Polls are open. argue

I refuse to drive in Central London because it's so frustrating and a nightmare to park, etc.

Apart from that, I'll take the car most places.

However, I'm not precious about using it. If a public transport option is

a) cheaper
b) more convenient
c) faster

Then I'll happily use that.

The caterham

I would take it anywhere

the landrover

I'm slightly more selective as it tends to get stuck in multistory carparks

Distances of less than 2 miles or more than 200 and I probably won't take the car.

Also, anywhere where parking costs more than £10 a day.

Pretty much everywhere. But I don't drink or drive at all (no one pint) so if I'm going somewhere that I think could end up in the pub, I don't bring the car.

I don't leave it in long term car parks either (i.e. airport carparks) I'll leave it at home and get a cab to the airport.

When going for a drink.

Also avoid cities, used Park & Ride in york recently and the Manchester tram system.

Both frequent cheap and not too bad to use, a thumbs up from me.

I wont drive in central London often......wont drive upto scotland for the weekend and wont drive from major town to major town if the trains are quicker and my meetings are centrally located.

Otherwise will use a car anywhere else.....although the M25 and M6 dont make for fun driving ever.

Imagine you've just got your dream car - Ferrari 458.

Where are you going to go in it? Where are you going to park it?

I won't take the car if I can take the bike wink

Otherwise, no. I've not refused to go anywere in either the Supra or the Jag for fear of anything happening and, touch wood (hurr, hurr) nothing has (bar a couple of very small door dings in a car park).

Cars are for driving, as such, the odd stonechip, mark or whatever doesn't worry me. If it gets knicked, yes, it'd be a major pain in the arse, but that's what insurance is for. Life's too short to worry about every little thing.

Inclined to agree. If you worry about your car too much, then get a cheaper car!

I only use my car when I need to.

I cycle to work, because it's not far, cheaper, quicker, doesn't get the car dirty (I have a dirty job) and the short distance would ruin it.

If I go to London I use the train.

I can easily walk to the shop in about 20 minutes if I need a few bits and bobs.

It is also a total pain to drive around here.

Everywhere, if I'd just bought my dream car I'd want to use it as much as possible and enjoy it.

I don't really use my car during the working week unless its to bob to the supermarket when I get home.
I've been on holiday for a week and only used my car to rescue people Friday night when all that snow dropped in a couple of hours.

Pretty much this for me too. I also don't use the car if I'm going less than a couple of miles (unless the weather's really bad).

I'll happily drive in snow and fog but won't reach for the keys if there are gale force winds. Don't fancy a tree or artic on top of me.
