Yes, I know, not the most exciting topic. But hey, this is PH - the only place I know to ask this question and find at least one person interested in replying hehe

So, the weather is poor and my miles are high.
Both our daily drivers seem quite greedy, seeming to think that for each squirt on the windscreen the headlights may as well have a gallon of the stuff too.

Buying it at forecouts annoys me as it's expensive and crap pre-mixed stuff.
Popping into Halford is default, but I'm sure I can do better.

So - I'm going to get some garage supplies. I have a credit card and internet ready to buy vats of the stuff, delivered bulk to my door.

Key criteria for me, as I see it:
Good cleaning ability and a nice streak-free finish
Concentrate, so that I can mix it up as the seasons dictate
I'm not afraid to admit that a nice aroma would be most welcome

So, I invite you to indulge in this rarely discussed topic. Show your passion if it's there, this is a safe place.
What is the average PHers favourite screenwash and why?

Official bmw stuff. Cheap, smells good, very low freezing point so you dilute it more than most, cleans well and is smear free.

I will have to buy some then.

I buy the 5L bottle of pink stuff from Halfauds but it does tend to smear and on a couple of occasions passengers have asked weather or not I have been drinking due to the smell of alcohol in the car after clearing the windscrean!

hehe Halfords Pink stuff has to be up there with the best .. I love the smell cloud9 Plus I find it good as left-over drips don't get the time to run up (if driving) or run down the screen , which means you dont have to do the obligatory manual single wipe after the wipers have stopped ... must have quite a high alcohol content or something.

Same very low freezing point through winter and and can be diluted a lot through summer so 1 litre will last ages.

1/5 Red Label Vodka
4/5 Water
Dash of Red food dye
Dash of Fairy Liquid.

Great screen wash. Also useful if you run out of beer.

On my truck, the screen wash reservoir doubles up as the tank for the Methanol Injection so no probs for me.

Always wondered if I can point one forwards, mount an upside down spark plug and double it up as a flame thrower silly

Effective down to -63, so can probably make 4-5L of decent strength mixed.

I've pulled the plug on one of those fancy super-concentrated ones, will report back.

Lidl stuff is good but might not always be readily available. It's something like £6 for 5 litres iirc.

Vw stuff is also good but not as cheap, I think I paid £6 for about 2 litres. The vw is supposedly the same stuff as some German named stuff you can pick up on ebay but I can't remember its name, maybe someone else can enlighten us!

Another vote for the Lidl stuff. Not always available but you can always stock up when it is.

It's a bit streaky at the moment but that's probably because I've got a strong mix in whilst the temps are (were) sub zero. Smells OK too.
It's the only stuff I've ever used that is 100% realiable in winter.

BMW stuff is tres expensive.
Halfords apple is the best smelling, but is also pricey (and not that great in very low temps)
