Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a supercar experience day? When I google it, I get loads of sites but looking for one that perhaps other PHer's have used and would recommend.

For me and my Dad to do in May this year for his 50th.

Thanks

Lee

I went one one somewhere in Loughbrough with Red Letter Days and have to say from the perspective of a car fan it wasn't that great.

Drive a Lambo Gallardo and was told to put it in 3rd and wasnt allowed to change fomr third for 2 laps then stop.

The 2 laps wasn't the issue, just the not being able to use gears.

I took a second drive in a Scooby STi and it was a lot more fun. Again I was told not to use the gears, but as it was manual when I came up to a corner I dropped gear instinctively (genuinely didn't thin about what I was doing) when I floored it and it was a LOT more satisfying than in the lambo sitting at 2k RPM then going full throttle up to a good 1k before redline.

If 6th Gear actually let you "experience" the car, I would recommend it for sure, if they dot he same, I would say it depends on your expectations.

This is what I was worried about.. the AMG experience at Mercedes Benz World restrict gear changing and electronically cap the revs, I was told this when I went to book one, didn't bother in the end..

6thGearExperiences are excellent. I've been to several days with them now and they've always been staffed by friendly folks, and always been really well run. Highly recommended.

They let me drive the cars as hard as I dared - the only car they made me be careful with was the Ariel Atom which they insisted I put up into 5th gear before making any progress - and it was still mind bendingly terrifying.

The guy I was with in the scooby was a good sport anyway, he said something like like "that was cheeky wink".

He let me have an extra lap free too since I came all the way from Cumbria.

I'd ring the place and ask how it works, as you did with AMG. Worst that can happen is they say no smile

experience limits, run by andy walsh of car limits.

most of these are a waste of money as you're never allowed to really use the car. but for the price what would you expect? Better bang per buck at Palmer Sport

I found the AMG hour excellent value for money.

Also done Palmersport day and although excellent there is a lot of waiting about.

Can't comment on 6th Gear as haven't been.

If it were my money them AMG hour, if it were someone elses then Palmersport.

Silverstone single seaters, there's nobody in the car to tell you what gear to be in or how quick to go wink

Scared the absolute bejesus out of myself!

The sessions at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone are excellent. Lots of choice (ice hill, kick-plate, handling circuit) and no rev limit. My instructor kept telling me off for changing up too early.

I have been off roading at Mercedes Benz World which was brilliant, but the track looks fun and various cars can be driven, up to the SLS and Black's.
Also good for a day out, even though it is basically a glorified merc showroom
