I have just purchased a car from salvage which is a CAT D (Water damaged) and the V5 has come through in my name today. I have checked the MOT history online and its showing the MOT is still valid untill May 2013. I understand the requiremnts with CAT C's and VIC test etc etc but what I want clarifying is whether I need to carry out a new MOT on my CAT D or whether it would be sufficient to simply spend £10 on a replacement MOT at a local test centre and be 100% legal. Is it the Law to carry out a new MOT?
