I would include demo cars in this,

If I book a test drive 24 hours in advance I don't expect to be greater by a filthy car covered in bird lime and an interior full of I hope was icing sugar but was probably dandruff.

Yes citroen birmingham I'm talking about you.

maybe it' s a Scirocco thing

when I was looking for mine I arranged a test drive for one at a VW dealer in Leeds, it was advetised as immaculate and having covered 8000 miles, yet when I arrived What I saw had 4 badly curbed alloys looked like it had never been washed and was reading 11000 miles on the clock
when I asked about the discrepancies I was told that a member of staff had been using it as their own personal transport / mobile office.

The photos look quite well done / professional yet the car is awfully scruffy.

I went to look at a VXR8 at my local authorised dealer, the car was covered in dust and crap, the inside was mouldy and the trim around the centre console was falling off, needless to say I didn't buy it.

To be fair to them in other respects, I can't fault them for service on the one I did eventually buy.

Thats particularly shocking rofl

I photo all of our cars, they get a quick wash down but not a hoover as I haven't got the time. They get photo'd as soon as they come in and get online ASAP.

It helps hide any scratches or damage.

Usually the patter is "It's just come in and we don't dress them up like other dealers, it's an honest car and to get it as this price is a steal, if we cleaned it up it will make a load more for us but we're too busy right now"

If I had a rocco r demo I would want to make absolutely certain it wouldn't be sold, a couple of those novelty poos in the footwell would finish it off nicely... once its sold he just knows theres a polo bluemotion waiting for him!

I have a good mate who runs a family car sales business that's been going for about 100 years. Really.

Their cars are always presented immaculately on he basis that if the cars are mint (and they always are), punters will find it hard to chip them.

Seems sensible to me, who wants to spend hours cleaning a new purchase of £££££?

That is shocking and unacceptable IMHO!
