I've started restoring a damaged fibreglass bonnet. Now as 80% of the gel coat is damaged, I will sand it right down to remove the current coat, and make the whole bonnet nice and smooth.

Now I'm a bit lost as to the process of applying the new gel coat?

I've researched but everywhere seems to say something else. So I understand I apply it in several light coats, sanding between each. But what about the last coat, do I add anything else ontop of the last coat?

Thanks for any help on this?

I don't think so, just try and get it smooth enough so any undulations in the final coat will sand and polish out.

So long as you are using good quality gel, just polish it, polish it and polish it!

If you're doing a whole bonnet and not experienced in gel repairs I would leave it to the pro's!

Me too. What makes you think it's only the gel coat which has issues?
