Trailer replating help

Looking to replate my trailer from 1700kg MAM to 1250kg in order to be able to legally tow it on my license. Legally is there anything stopping me buying a plate such as below and engraving it myself or just taking the existing trailer plate off? Thanks.

So long as you do not then exceed the newly reduced MAM, you're fine. Brian James Trailers will actually supply a new re-stamped plate for a very small fee (tenner i think).
