Insurance Issue
Discussion
Hi guys,
Hoping someone can help me as I am in a pickle.
I had my licence revoked for medical reasons as I had a craniotomy 4 months ago, and I should recieve it back in 2 months time.
I have had other things on my mind, and although I havent been driving obviously, I havent informed my insurance company of the situation.
Last week someone reversed into the side of my parked car, the car now needs a new door, and a new wing.
Luckily I saw it happen and have been in contact with the other party.
The quotes are around the £800 mark, and the other party wants to go through their insurance.
What do I need to do in this situation? Is there a way that I dont need to inform my insurance of this claim?
Thanks
Dom

So long as the other party is playing ball then get them to call their insurer and make a claim. The other driver will be given, by his insurer, a phone number (for his insurer) and claim reference to give to you. You call up his insurer and give them the claim reference number and they'll tell you to take the car wherever you like to get it repaired and they'll pay. That's it. No need to involve your insurer in the claim at all. You'll have to declare it upon renewal, if they ask you.
