Selling / px a car do you include the tax disc ?
Discussion
I usually dont mention tax on the ad but factor it in to the price - then when you get an actual viewer ( rather than the timewasting twonks trying to talk price over the phone ) you use it as a bargaining chip.
If I'm P/exing a car to a trader and there is more than a month left i'd always take it off and cash it in - because thats the first thing the trader will do.

This topic is a good one. ..dealers plead poverty when we start taking tax off p/ex cars & yet most big dealers cash the tax straight in. If it is a private sale l think you should always have tax on the car as the buyer can drive it off there & then. On the other hand the value of the tax can be a few £100s in a p/ex position.

Dealers getting a refund on road tax? That stopped a while ago. caprirob said:

The only person able to cash in a tax disc is the registered keeper so the dealer will not be cashing it in (unless he wants to re-register the car in his name first). However a valid tax disc will make the car easier to sell on, so does have some value to the dealer. It should be explained at the point of appraisal whether the car is being valued with the tax or not, if it is then the tax forms part of the deal. Rids64 said:

Interesting - sure traders used to be able to cash the tax in on p/ex's - things must have changed.certainly of the last 6 out of 7 cars I've bought I had to pay for a new tax disc at the point of purchase. Annoying.

Yes they were able to, in the past.certainly of the last 6 out of 7 cars I've bought I had to pay for a new tax disc at the point of purchase. Annoying.
How is this annoying , unless you are buying bangers? Tax will have been cashed in by previous owners, or expired? In fact perhaps we shroud call CMD and have a new law that states, "No VED Disc refunds".
(See what I did there)
