Nissan qashqai 4x4 or Nissan x trail
Discussion
Im looking for a 4x4 for going down farm tracks, lonnings and crossing a wet field now and again. I wont be using it for towing just need a decent boot for 3 springers.
After looking at a qashqai, qashqai+2 and an x trail this moring all would fit the bill.
The only difference are that the x trail has hill decent which would be good for winter on slippery hills also the boot lid lifts higher on an x trail where as on the qashqai i would bang my head, until i was used to it.
So which will be best ? FIGHT lol
It wont be brand new and my maximum budget is £20k and it will be a tekna spec for the leather and xenons.

Ok, just curious why a Nissan though?
Personally I prefer the Rav4 to the Nissan offerings. Either that or go for the new to the UK Dacia Duster, it's basically an X-Trail drive system on what I think is a version of the QQ's platform. And for a heck of lot less money too.
This isn't a bad shout, the Duster has been getting decent reviews. Personally I prefer the Rav4 to the Nissan offerings. It's basic, sure, but for me, that adds to the charm of it. Reminds me of a 'baby Defender' in the sense that it doesn't try to hide it's utilitarian purpose.

Actually it's not all that basic and a million miles away from a Defender in utilitarian feel. It's basic, sure, but for me, that adds to the charm of it. Reminds me of a 'baby Defender' in the sense that it doesn't try to hide it's utilitarian purpose.

QQ is unlikely to be that much help. I'd also avoid the +2 as there's next to no space in the back, even for those in the 2 seats.
Surely a Qashqai would cope with the very light off-road use that the OP has described? Agree that the third row of seats is useless in the QQ+2, but its a longer car than the standard QQ with more bootspace for the OP's 3 dogs when the third row of seats is folded into the boot floor.A3tdi said:
Buy something a bit more 'proper'..

I saw the "man maths" caveat, but are you suggesting that the running costs of an out-of-warranty Touraeg are even remotely comparable to a new-ish small Jap 4x4?[picture of 5 year old Touraeg]
They're nice looking cars, but not cheap to run, no?

Need a bit more clearence than an estate car can give, not keen on the Rav 4 side opening rear door and not keen on the Dacia as the qashqai+2 and x trail have a bigger boot than it.
A nissan is nice and compact (not to wide) so it fits into a standard car park space and garage, plus the nissan garage is only a few miles away.
