just got back in from driving. My car, (Golf mk5 1.6 FSI if that helps) was juddering in second gear, it acted like it was in a high gear and felt like it was juddering a bit in the lower rev range, high revs it was smoother. However, I wasn't in a high gear, it was gear 2 and 3 in normal conditions at lower rev ranges made the car judder randomly. It wasn't consistent at all, it would judder a little bit, then a lot then not do it at all.

Can anyone help me, would be very grateful.

i also apologise for poor grammar etc

Manual? If so it sounds like a random misfire making the engine fire on 3/2 cylinders.Could be a coil pack going down..

Hmm yeah it is a manual, it has just had a service with all spark plugs changed, could a coil pack really cause all of that?

Yep. Obviously it's an over the internet diagnosis, based on what you're telling me...
Take it to your local good quality garage to have it confirmed/denied.
Where are you based?

I'd just get it looked at. It'll save your fingers from getting worn.

My Mk5 1.6 FSi occasionally did this, sometimes cutting out entirely. Strangely enough the cat was absolutely obliterated. (After 36k miles no less!)

Almost certainly a coil pack, VW ones can fail just by being removed. A quick plug into the OBD should identify which one. I'd pop it back and ask them nicely to have a look.

Took it to VW dealer today becuase i knew they do free checks, it turns out it is 'slightly' misfiring on all 4 cylinders. They suspect it might be a slack timing chain or fuel pressure problem.
