I need to replace the n/s passenger seatbelt today on our 2004 Ford C-Max, the cars fitted with side airbags. What measures do I have to take to ensure the airbags don't go off, is it just a case of disconnecting the battery and waiting a few mins before I start dismantling.

I believe the standard wisdom is to disconnect the battery and leave it for 30ish minutes to allow everything to discharge, although whether that's exactly right or not I'm not sure - I'd be surprised if it was more complex than that (and chances are 30 minutes is a bit pointless). Might also be worth disabling the passenger airbags before you start (I assume you can do that in the C-Max, being a family-orientated car).

Might be worth putting a call into your local dealer and sweet-talking them into telling you?
