My wife has always been very understanding over my relationship with cars.

Show knows how much I love them and that I tend to change cars for no other reason than fancying a change etc.

She sees cars as a means to an end and tends to think about changing when its maybe starting to cost too much to maintain or if we need more space for the family etc.

Does your other half love cars or are they a bit confused with the fascination?

Girlfriend is just about beginning to understand why I like my car. She however can't tell the difference between a ferrari and a ford cougar, she knows nothing about cars at all. And she gets genuinely terrified (then very angry) if I even dare to drive noisily (not necessarily even very fast) when she is in the car. So I drive like a granny everywhere, changing up when I hit 2,000rpm (instead of the 8,000 I'd like to hit).

Oh well, we both like Game Of Thrones so it's not all bad....

My wife has little interest in cars, but appreciates why I love them and has not once said a bad word about my choice of car or me changing it for something else.

Ironically given his job (loosely, develops engines) I wouldn't really class my OH as a petrolhead like I am.

Luckily it works out - I buy them, he fixes/tinkers/upgrades them biggrin Never questioned on my whims and we can spend many happy hours discussing cars, my next fantasy project etc.

Would hate to go out with someone who didn't 'get it'.

No she isn't, she does like formula 1 but when i mention styles of cars i like, she just raises her eyes and goes back to watching her reality shows.

She does have other benefits though

Id say the GF loves cars, well she has got the Sunday Service in the diary and joins me on all car related activities. She can tell the difference between a Ferrari and a Lamborghini...so she is doing pretty well at the moment. A lot of training to get her here wink

Depends on what you mean. We bought our first house together on the condition that the TVR would fit in the garage. The current Chimeara we have agreed is a keeper for life. If I can, we will get a DB9 Volante.

Mine has absolutely no interest in cars or motoring what so ever.

It came to a head oncein Spain. I was leathering it along the carretera near Marbella and decided on the spur of the moment to stop at Capopino (sp?) for a beer at the marina. I hit the sliproad in our Fiat Bravo hire car really, stupidly fast but made the turn safely (albeit with a bit of squealing). The wife said, "You took that one fast." and I said "Thanks" and gave a thumbs up (with slightly shaky hand).

When I turned to look at her she had a furious face and had meant it as a reprimand. I took it genuinely as a compliment. Took a bit of handbag shopping to sort that one out.

She does have absolutely amazing tits though so it really is horses/courses.

My wife sees cars another 'white' good and she has about as much interest in them as she does a fridge. Except the colour. For some reason all her cars have been red.

She complains that my car is "too loud" rolleyes when overtaking.

She also has no understanding of why I like to change my cars regularly for no reason other than wanting to change.

I change my car and she disapproves regardless of what it is and we move on. Total understanding on both sides. beer

Nah, cars are my hobby. There are plenty of other interests we share together and as a family.

I actually prefer it this way smile

My GF likes going to shows to look at cars, she can tell some cars apart but doesn't understand why I get excited when I open the window to hear the TVR etc etc blast past.

She also likes to go out for drives and ride pillion on the bike but has no real interest in bikes.

She wanted to tour scotland last year for our holidays, only stipulation I had was I planned the route.

She loves driving the cars and gets more comments than I do mainly from lecherous old man commenting on the car and how they would love to own such a beast. Fair play to her as most women couldn't and wouldn't want to entertain an SMG box or something with over 400hp but she just takes it all in her stride. That said she does whinge at the fuel bills if it means we don't have a meal on the table biggrin

Probably the most cliche PH answer possible here! Mine had NO interest at all and couldn't get it - until she had a drive in a friends MX5.

She now owns a 1.8 RS MX5 and has been known to go for a hoon by herself just for fun!
