Hello Pistonheads
Discussion
Hi guys, my name is Mike and I'm a uni student in Canterbury (from Coventry), currently drive a Citroen c1 hence the user (not exactly pistonhead worthy I know)but currently re-building my dads robin hood type 2b from a 1400 pinto to a 2 litre from an escort rally car. Also have plans to get hold of a cheap mx5, turn it into an exocet and turbo it or perhaps a cheap mr2 turbo and do the ferari replica conversion
but thats not until i finish uni anyway. Didn't know whereabouts to say hello so if this is in the wrong place I apologise

The correct measure is the performance you extract from it. An M5 owner will extract a pathetic 10% of performance on a daily basis, whereas you will hit a far better 100% on a regular basis. The C1 is therefore the better car.
I like the Ferrari replica joke, very good!

nobody likes a conversion haha, i have to say i do enjoy driving the little c1 around town but anywhere else and its just too under-powered and doesn't have a lot of room to tune without getting a blower unfortunately. what do you guys think about a mev exocet project as my first 'self-build', looks almost too easy to be true...

Build what you like. It's up to you. You will find PH is a bit snobby about replicas, or 'lookalikes'. Apparently Toyota engined plastic Ferraris are bad, but Chevrolet engined plastic Cobras are OK. Oh well.
I'm not a snob at all, but I have never seen a decent Ferrari replica. I'd spend as long as I have talking to someone about their nice mr2 (turbo or not) but if it had been ruined by making a super at replica, I'd not bother my arse.

I feel that way about plastic Chevolet engined Cobras. A lookalike is a lookalike. I'd spend as long as I have talking to someone about their nice mr2 (turbo or not) but if it had been ruined by making a super at replica, I'd not bother my arse.
cheers dude, i like it here, loads of very useful knowledge. tbh i'd prefer a 'space frame' over a replica anyways, but i do like cobras

They made a 1.3l and oversized pistons will make it closer to 1.4l than 1.3l.
thats quite possibly what it is, tbh its coming out next week, dads sourcing the 2.0l of a mate whilst i crack on with some body work, was left in a pretty bad state but the majority of the important bits are alrightGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
