A random "where to meet" question!
Discussion
Suggestions please!
I am buying a vehicle, which needs to be trailered. Since I'm darn sarf and the vehicle is oop north, the seller & I have agreed to meet halfway. Vehicle needs to be trailered, so he's going to trailer it down to Birmingham-ish and I'll pick it up from him there, pay for it and trailer it home.
He's suggesting somewhere based on both of us using the M6 toll road. So can anyone suggest a large car-park type of area where we would have room to take the vehicle off one trailer and onto the other? I think there are services towards the top of the toll - are these any good for what we need, or if not where else? Bear in mind we'll be meeting around midday Saturday so I guess anything like a retail park will be busy.
TIA.

I once bought some equipment from another trader at Hartshead Moor Services on the M62.
We got "busted" by the police, because there had been recent activity of stolen goods been sold at the services.
We were lucky as we were legitimate and had paper work to prove our trade on us, our vehicles checked out too.
Just be warned!!!!!!!

@LadaNiva - yes, that had crossed my mind!
@illmonkey - I'm not that familiar with the area, it was just somewhere the seller suggested. I'll check the map. I'll be coming up the M40 then M42 I guess.
My point is why both pay for the Toll road? If you meet just north of it, only you will have to pay, or just stick to the M6. What ever way around you do it, you're both going to have to change direction, unless you do it off the motorway. So do it a few services before the M6, or like I say, come off at Stafford and find somewhere suitable. Then you don't need to do an additional junction each.@illmonkey - I'm not that familiar with the area, it was just somewhere the seller suggested. I'll check the map. Yes, M40 > M42 > M6 (toll).
ETA: Looking at Stafford, there is an industrial estate just off the M6, http://goo.gl/maps/YyuyA. It should be quite on a Sat.
Yes, you're right, I didn't realise how expensive the toll road is. I think we'll go for one of the service areas then, seems the best option. I don't want to go much north of Birmingham, that's 160 miles each way already which will be slow going with a trailer on the back, limited to 60 on the motorways.
The services at the top of the M6 Toll can be accessed from both North and South - so both parties can turn round.
Illmonkey posted the google maps link of J14 (Stafford North) of the M6 and The A34 heading towards the industrial estate has a rather lengthy lay-by about 200/300 yards off the roundabout as you exit the motorway and head up the hill toward the first round about.

I see - The lay by may not be best then - the industrial estate has quite a few areas where you could transfer the car from one trailer to the other - the only area to avoid is around the Arnold Clark Car Centre.
The local police use the A34 to get to and from their HQ ( which is to the East of Stafford ) to the motorway.
