Driving home tonight on an unlit country road. 4 seperate fking cars come at me blinding me with the equal power to 19 supernovas exploding in my fking face.

Why do people desperately scramble for their full beam as soon as they go within 8ft of the last streetlight? I can drive (and stop) well within the range of my normal dipped beam. All these people weren't even hooning along at 90mph, just plodding past at 30mph or so. If you cant see or estimate whats going on past your own dipped beam, then get the fk off the road. There's never any wildlife as such in that area and i really dont see the point.

Alas, if you want to use them, so be it. But turn them off you fking tossers. You can see me coming, you can see my light bouncing off the features in front of you as we both approach the same bend, but then again, you dont read the fking road so im being optimistic about your driving skill here.

I'd like to give a thumbs up to 2 out of the 4 fktards tonight who didnt even bother to turn them off, despite the flash from my own end to advise them i couldnt see st.

And finally, 'absolute wker of the week award' goes to the stupid bint (im assuming as much because it was a convertible vw beetle) that came at me with full beam on. But i thought it was a motorbike, so i didnt bother flashing, just looked away....

When the stupid trog finally realised what was going on, she shut the full beam off. Tada!!! One sidelight. That was it. One fking sidelight. It wasn't a bike, it was a car with NO working headlights, one sidelight out and one main beam out.

Driving through the unlit countryside with one sidelight and one high beam bulb working.... you have to be fking kidding me. Hand your licence in at the next police station please, assuming you dont smash into something on the way.

This means a) you go very slowly b) you don't have a non-xenon 911 c) you were an owl in a previous life.

Or turn your main beam on. Then you can see further than your dipped beam allows. Easy isn't it?

Are you sure they were high beams and not just dipped beams hitting you face on owing to the undulations in the (country) roads?

IME very few members of joe public know about high beams let alone when/how to use them!

There also seem to be more people driving along relatively busy DCWs with main beams on. You don't realise until you overtake and pull in and have to move your head out of the way of the reflections.

Good effort, 8.5/10. Nice amount of swearing, not over the top. Particularly liked the Trog bit......

Argh, I have worked a couple of nights over the past few weekends. Why are people driving down unlit motorways with the high beam on? It wasn't one or two, it was well into double figures and on both sides of the carriageway regardless of other vehicles infront. ranting

Seeing a bit further down the road or even out to the sides a little more could be the difference between a pleasant drive home and serious injury or death for myself or others. While I can't defend people who forget to put them down again when there's oncoming traffic it makes no sense at all to not use them on an empty unlit road. Take a deep breath and forgive the forgetful sods.

Also some people really do have the equivalent of two candles up front on dipped beam. Classic impreza? eek

I get flashed all the time.
I've sent the car back three times but Mercedes say the lights are correctly adjusted.
The lights are VERY bright sorry if it was me.

i dont mind if i,m in my truck as 2 headlights on high beam and 12 spotlights flashed back at them usually does the trick

My car has auto main headlights. If you see it being a bit hyperactive, that's just because it's being more thorough at illuminating my surroundings than I might be.

When I was an even bigger tosser than I am now, I used to have a 309GTI which came with about 104 lights up front as standard. I could drive down a country lane with the dipped and front "driving" lights on and people coming the other way would flash me. I'd then give 'em all 104 barrels and put the main beams on, fog lights, the fking lot!! Looked like the "welcome wagon" from Independence Day coming down the lane LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May I suggest Mr Fjord if you used your main beam, other people also using main beam would notice you earlier and flick to dipped before blinding you.

Sure you get some twonks who forget to dip but largely I find by using (rather necessary in my old jalopies if you want to move along close to the NSL) you tend to get blinded less by others.

You might not remember them, but you can't argue that cars in 1950 were safer than they are in 2013. Part of that is because of visibility.
