Hi, done a search but cant find anything.

Fitted a set of racelands on my C2 the other day, was fine for a bit but now each time I turn the wheels at lowish speed the spring on the drivers side front makes a pinging noise :/

I had my girlfriend turn the wheel while it was sat still and the coil actually turns along with the wheels, it then catches before it pings back, therefore making the noise.

The only difference to the way both sides were installed is that I didnt tighten the drivers side, this leads me to believe it could be overtightened?

Is there anything else this could be or am I best off loosening the adjusters etc and then resetting it all?

Cheers

Are these coilovers still bolted to the strut body by a large nut? If so try tightening that, it's a common source of clicking if not quite tightened fully.

A little OT: Why the cheap Raceland coilover over a decent lowered damper and spring?

Racelands are cheap, st and nasty. Just 2 minutes of googling would have told you that

They are attached by the large nut yeah, seems my problem though is more being overtightened because instead of the coil staying still when I turn the top section actually turns with it confused

Cheap set because the springs on the original struts snapped while away on holiday so came back to it sitting on the floor, not alot of money was spare lol

A nice set of Bilstein OEM shock absorbers and some lowering springs would've been money better spent!

In that case, as far as I can see, they can't be overtightened - the nut will crack before it becomes a problem. If you've got a jammed top mount then that might do it too, does the Raceland kit come with replacements, or use the OE ones?

The replacement springs you needed are £35 front/£28 rear btw, then you could use proper dampers and not ones made of rolled up fag packets in a tinfoil case. tongue out

I know theyre not the best quality but I wasnt up for spending a huge amount straight after my holiday. They only cost me 150 for the set with a 3 year warranty so cant go too far wrong.

Ill try wd40 on it and see what happens with regards to the top mount sticking, they use the OE ones by the way.
