Duratec SCi

Does anyone here have any experience of Ford's direct injection engine? I find direction injection fascinating (I'm a big hit at parties) and just wondered why it seems like no manufacturer has really successfully managed to produce a reliable, enduring DI petrol engine.

The specification of the Duratec SCi looks great but in real world use they all seem to run into frequent and expensive problems sooner or later, so was just curious to know if anyone on here has owned or used one (or any other DI engine)?
