Is this good advice?

Normally after new tyres are fitted I find the pressure totally wrong so adjust as per manufacturers settings. This is the first time I've been told by an installer that they have set a higher pressure to help the tyre (and glue) bed in. I should check and adjust in a week.

Just checking that this is sensible advice.

Thanks.

Any idea why they needed glue?

I can't discredit it as an idea, but I've never heard of it. Although there certainly isn't any 'glue' which needs 'drying'!

Reporting second hand what the wife told me so apologies if inaccurate (although she has no reason to make it up!)

I'm assuming it is some sort of sealant/grease as I've never heard of any glue either!

It was fitted by Event Tyres, recommended on here so I'm assuming they know what they're doing.

I know they use "glue" if there has been an issue with air escaping round the bead. Perhaps some was used for reasons unknown to us. Just do as the chap says.. if you have any issues at least you can go back and say you did exactly as they said. Drive remembering that you've got a bit more pressure in there.. simple ,really. rolleyes

Ok, just checking as not had this advice before.

The wife tells me its sealant to help bed in the tyres and stop potential leaks - I think the installer was just using terms she's understand.

Cheers all. smile

I had a couple of persistently leaking tyres, as the alloys were slightly corroded round the bead. Tyre company re-seated them with this sealant. Worked. Not known of it with decent rims though.

2008 A3 with 75,000 miles. Not aware of rims being particularly bad, or tyres losing any pressure.

If it doesn't do any harm then I'm happy.
