Great delight is seen in Tesla failing miserably to make its expected range, many are happy to see the leaf being a huge sales failure.
So do you hate the electric car?
And if so why do you hate it?
And before we get a moan about range etc
YOU ARE NOT FORCED TO BUY ONE SO ITS NOT A PROBLEM FOR YOU

I'd buy an electric car tomorrow if the ownership proposition for non urban dwellers who have to drive significant distances was addressed.
Once the electric vehicle has been developed properly, with an infrastructure to support it, it will be an excellent proposition. As it is only in its infancy, it really is only suited to people who do very short journeys, or at least journeys that encompass electric charging stations without detour.
In order to make EV's work properly, the fundamtental aspects of ownership need to be addressed, namely:
Range on a single charge: 300 - 400 miles regardless of weather or use of ancillary systems.
Performance: Comparable to a similarly postioned IC vehicle
Maximum charging time (empty to full): No more than 5 minutes.
Accessibility of charge: Every fuel station in the country.
Servicing: No more than a current IC vehicle over the lifetime.
Until these areas are addressed, the EV just won't offer itself as a viable alternative to the IC vehicle. The key issues are those of range and charge time. People just won't consider anything markedly worse than they are used to today.

I voted not bothered. Like the diesel vitriol, I don't think it would bother me either way how a car is powered. Horsepower is horsepower. There is the noise aspect, but ho hum, technology marches on. When electric is more viable, I'm sure it will become the norm. I can see the point of them for short range, maybe city driving, but you are left a little doomed on long range stuff. The Chevy Volt is probably the best variant I reckon.
As long as I still have access to my Caterham, track days and some recreational super unleaded, I can't say I honestly care what fuel my daily driver uses.
But petrol has a lot of plus points for me - electric would have to be an improvement on the status quo, not a compromise in order for me to make the switch over.

I voted 'not bothered', simply because until they solve several major problems - range, time to charge, weight and cost - electric cars just aren't a viable proposition, and anyone pressing for their mass uptake at this stage clearly lives in London and doesn't drive (something most people involved in transport policy seemingly have in common).
However, I do rather like the Vauxhall Ampera/Chevolet Volt. Of all the electric and hybrid cars, it's the one that makes the most sense.
