When you say 'fun' ? you mean chuck it around a corner and come out with a smile rather than a concussion?

7k is tricky. Its a healthy budget but not 'quite' enough for something thats lots of fun like an Abarth.

If you want something nearly new how about a Suzuki Swift Sport? 7K should get you a relatively newish one.

I'm kind of in the same position as you and had a look at a Kia picanto at the weekend. Seems to be quite a well made car, a reasonable drive and it has a 7 year warranty. Some dealers are punting them out at just under 7k for a new one.

FFS. Smart ForTwo. Obviously.

Fun? yes

Nippy? With that tiny turbo engine? yes

Practical, RWD and interesting to boot.

Job jobbed. biggrin

You could buy about 10 okay condition mk1 ph2 Megane coupe 1.6 16v's. Nippy(ish), frugal, cheap parts, road costs.

You can even pretend they're like a fleet of MINIs what with the pointless rear seats and tiny rear loading point.

Bargin!

hehe

There are some rust free examples, but they're quite difficult to come by. Better to buy one which has already had the rust treated.

I am selling my wife's fiat 500 for just under £7k - has the 100HP engine (same as Panda) and in "sport" trim is a great little thing to throw around town. At around town speeds, its not much different to my brothers Abarth 500.
